Pharmacy Assistants Asthma Masterclass

Register Your Interest

Asthma is recognised as one of four chronic conditions in Tasmania impacting on the population health of all Tasmanians and results in potentially preventable hospitalisations for many.

Hosted by Asthma Australia and the Tasmanian Branch of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, the Pharmacy Assistants Asthma Masterclass sessions are being held around the state in the lead up to Spring, our typical allergy season, and coinciding with Asthma Week to help develop a deeper understanding of asthma.

Pharmacy assistants are a vital link in supporting people living with asthma to manage their condition including identifying triggers, first aid, medications and device techniques.

This training session aims to equip pharmacy assistants with the skills to support the patient to gain the knowledge and confidence to use their medication properly and to understand the importance of developing a living asthma plan with their GP and pharmacist.

All participants will receive an Asthma Information Kit from Asthma Australia.

The Pharmacy Guild will deliver a session designed to highlight key opportunities to promote asthma management in your pharmacy including:
  • the importance of maintaining a clinical setting,
  • how to develop simple in-store health promotions including use of social media and,
  • where to find resources.

Light refreshments will be provided.
